Supermarket deal is close, but Pileggi demanding details
State Representative Thaddeus Kirkland blames Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi for holding up funding for the construction of a Chester supermarket. Pileggi concedes that’s true. According to Erik Arenson, spokesman for Pileggi; the senator requested information from Brandywine Real Estate Management Services Corp, the Chadds Ford-based developer, to address the scope of the project, plans and information about the market’s long term sustainability in order to determine if it is prudent to use taxpayers’ money on the project. With much fanfare the Chester Housing Authority (CHA) recently “broke ground” for two new housing developments for senior citizens that are actually nearing completion but the unusual timing did not stop officials from the mayor of Chester to the governor of Pennsylvania beaming with pride about ongoing development of the city “on the move.” Read full article »

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 was a day for celebration in Chester, Pennsylvania. That afternoon, Governor Ed Rendell, Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing, HUD, Sandra Henriquez, Normal L. Shapiro, US District Court Judge, Wendell Butler, Jr., Mayor of Chester and other public officials were hosted by developer Israel Roizman to break ground for the newest affordable senior housing in Chester, Edgemont Senior Apartments and Madison Senior Apartments. Goal for Chester: Supermarket of its Own
A Chadds Ford developer has signed an agreement of sale to purchase the 12.4-acre Highland Avenue site from the Chester Housing Authority and plans to build a retail shopping center that would be anchored by a supermarket of up to 40,000 square feet. Read full article »

Chester Housing Authority - Judicial Administrator for Development’s Report
Robert C. Rosenberg, President of the Rosenberg Housing Group (RHG), as Judicial Administrator for Development (JAD) is responsible for completing the residential revitalization efforts under the Wellington Ridge and Chester Towers Hope VI grants and to work on several projects aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Chester Housing Authority communities.
